Background. Injuries resulting from traffic accidents, falls, violence or hostilities annually result in the death of more than five million people and account for 9 % of all deaths in the world. Damage to the liver is characterized by special severity, the difficulty of recognition and treatment, especially injuries that are associated with damage to large venous vessels. The aim of our study was to study the absorbent properties of widely used hemostatic drugs in an in vitro experiment.
Material and methods. The hemostatic sponge, Tachocomb, Surgitamp and Molselect were chosen as the tested sorbents. In vitro, the test materials (hemostatic sponge, Tachocomb, Molselect, Surgitamp) of the same shape and size were placed, the tubes had pre-prepared blood in the amount of 30 ml. The obtained experimental data were approximated by a fifth degree polynomial by the least squares method.
Results. It has been established that it is most effective to apply “spraying” with a layer of 2 mm, since the volume of absorbed blood is greatest. At the same time, evaluating the cost of materials under equal conditions of use, Molselect has a greater economic prospect.
Conclusions. The results show that Molselect has the highest absorbing properties compared to other drugs, which makes its use in clinical practice the most promising.
